Fic: "Lisa"
Feb. 15th, 2010 03:35 amTitle: Lisa
Characters: Ianto, Other
Rating: PG-13
Length: 600 words
Summary: A shag, I figure, and you don't answer the door so I go round the back way, a bit surprised but walk in, since it's open.
Surprise shag tonight, fine by me. After your call earlier, you hung up without saying a word, sneaky bastard, trying to be mysterious and funny as if you need to be. We've been shagging for a while now, you and I, bloody strange routine, me dropping by and you pretending that you didn't expect it but completely expecting it. And you look tired enough most days and say it's your job and do that thing with your hand in your hair.
'Aliens,' you says, 'it's aliens, Lisa. Bloody aliens.' And laugh while you pour us a drink.
Lisa. I like it. My mates think it's right weird, that. I like it, it's better than Jessica or Jessie or Jesster. My brother calls me that. It's different, and just us, yeah?
I really think we are going somewhere with this, you and me, no dates to the restaurant, but just me coming over for a shag on the kitchen table, and you being there even after you got into fights and me patching you up, and I know we've said no strings. And you laughed and done this routine with your fingers and strings the other day with both of us being pissed and sitting on the kitchen floor and said something about strings and the universe, not my kind of thing, that. I know I've said no strings, but a string or two, maybe? Maybe not calling me and hanging up for a prank like you're twelve?
Had to ditch my mates tonight.
A shag, I figure, and you don't answer the door so I go round the back way, a bit surprised but walk in, since it's open. No sign of you.
On the table, this.

and I turn it over, because yeah, it is your number, and then,

I don't know who J is, someone else you know? Someone else with J? Another girl?
Then you call my name from the door, well, 'Lisa,' you say, because that's just between us, yeah, and pull me along to the front, except the door opens and you stop.
A shag, tonight, I'd thought, not a bloke in a coat standing in the doorway and you squeezing the blood out of my hand with your grip. Didn't sign up for threesomes, love.
'Her name's not Lisa,' the bloke says and you pull me in for a kiss. So much for no strings, going for right declarations now. 'This isn't Lisa.'
'It is,' you say and smile.
Just between us, yeah? That. I like it. You asked me to cut my hair and I did that, too, it looks better anyway. So between us, that's fine, it's something special. You laugh when I dance, and you sat me down this one time, after the shag with both of us drunk and laughing, and did my make-up. You're funny that way.
You pull some string from your pockets, must have been there since the kitchen conversation and I laugh, and you wave it at the bloke and turn me around to face him, press up behind me. You're knotting string in front of my face, tie our wrists together with it for romance. You're such a fool.
'Her name's Lisa,' you say, 'she's my girlfriend.'
First time I hear you say that. I grin at the bloke. He's so serious, but I nod at him that it's okay. See, strings and all. I figure we've upgraded from shagging now.

Date: 2010-02-15 10:59 am (UTC)Seriously, when it started I was like "huh?" and just a wee bit confused, then the bit at the end clicked everything into place and I was "O_o You made Ianto crazed and deluded!"
I guess losing Lisa affected him more than we all thought -- I mean, this guy is touched in the head!!
Well done!
Ouch
Date: 2010-02-15 11:02 am (UTC)This was painful and utterly believable, although I am hardcore Jack/Ianto. I think this could have happened. After all we know of Ianto's life, it's a wonder he wasn't madder than he appeared in the series.
Brilliant as always and thank you!

How did you get so much story and sadness into such a few words? Awesome writing.
