I thought your portrait of Gwen here was very believable, and actually seems rather like something that might have happened in the relationship with Alice--which seems colored by the same sort of distrust Gwen displays in your story.
What a curse--Jack is driven to connect with people, physically and emotionally, in spite of what must be repeated experiences of loss, and of growing apart, and of distrust and bitterness. Anyway, again, I really, REALLY enjoyed this fic!
